When talking about inflation, there's something that must be understood: it doesn't entirely depend on the current president's actions. Well, then who is to blame for my $15 hotdog if not Joe Biden? The answer is simple: nobody. Nobody in government, or any one individual, is responsible for the inflation we have seen. So, what's the root cause for the inflaton? The central cause for the inflation we have seen is the supply chain issues from COVID. Now, you could blame China for that, because it's evident that they never took proper measures to conduct medical research in a safe and optimal manner, causing disease to spread and ports to shut down. You could also put the blame on Donald Trump for improperly handling the situation. However, it's much more important to look past the central cause after it's been explained and identified in order to reason why the issue got so bad, causing some to struggle. This is where price gouging comes in. Let's take gas prices as an example. Remember when expensive gas was making headlines? This was a manipulation tactic on the side of OPEC, where they gave us less usable oil (because the U.S. doesn't have the right type of oil to fill up your car), and therefore by giving us less oil, the prices naturally increased. Most of the public doesn't try to investigate the reason why this happened, so when they hear Trump, one of the largest voices in America, tell them that this is Biden's inflation, they are quick to believe it without having any second thoughts.
So what do the Democrats have to combat these issues, from gas prices to groceries? The answer is simple. Kamala Harris has stated that she plans to limit price gouging, something that Republicans were quick to label as "communist" and twist her words into "price controls," implying that she wants to directly control what you pay in the grocery store. That aside, her plan outlines how she will stop corporate greed. From letting Trump's corporate tax cuts expire to stopping companies like Walmart from achieving such large profit margins on everyday items. Now, why does Trump dislike these policies? Because he works with corporate entities. His cooperation with oil-producing dictatorships should be enough to cross his name off the ballot.
